Gandharva’12 Gandharva an intercollegiate cultural festival provides a platform for participants to explore and portray their talents. The theme of Gandharva 2012 i.e., the fifth year was ‘Village- Going Back to Roots’ to re-live the nostalgic by going back in times and experience the rural India. The festival featured several competitions for student fraternity, alumni and teachers and the theme was very well depicted by all the participants through their performances. The performances of 3-day Gandharva ’12 mahotsav involved over 150 students, teachers and supporting staff. However in its 5 th year, Gandharva ’12 surpassed all previous records by a big margin. 106 colleges from Vasai to Ratnagiri participated in this festival in 35 events. This year for the first time in thane, one act play competition was conducted on a large scale at Gadkari Rangayatan with cash prizes worth ` 30000. The competition was judges by eminent theatre personalities like Mr. Bharat Tandel, Mr. Dnyaneshwar Margas, Mr. Anil Gawas with Sushant Shelar, Mr. Prasad Jawade and Mr. Chaitanya Chandratre. Cash prize of Gandharva 2012 and champions rolling trophy to overall winner of Gandharva ’12 was awarded to Sydenham College and cah prize of ` 500 was given to best CL. The journey of 5 years was not possible without the support of our Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Shakuntala A. Singh, Vice Principal Prof. Subhash Shinde and Vice- Principal, Junior college Mrs. Gauri Tirmare and entire team of 150 volunteers, teachers and supporting staff. Special thanks to all our sponsorers who supported us and Vice-Principal and Gandharva Chairperson Prof. (Mrs.) Monika Deshpande for her continuous support and encouragement and special thanks to Gandharva Head Akshay Hegde for his hard work and leading the Gandharva team.
