First Frame 2014 India’s first ever Crowdfunded International Students’ Film Festival New Delhi: March 19 2014, First Frame 2014 has become the first ever International students' film festival to crowdfund and create history. First Frame is a movement that started way back in 2003, by a bunch of cinema enthusiasts of MBICEM, New Delhi, who wanted to give the storyteller within them a stage to share all their stories amongst fellow storytellers. What started out as a small media college affair turned into the biggest celebration of student films in the country. There was a serious dearth of platforms like these and it was only a matter of time before the student filmmaker community, stood up and took notice. Four years, after its inception, the festival took another giant leap by going International. This made First Frame, India's first International students' film festival. After more than 10 years of being around and serving the student filmmaker community and the film industry, the festival is presently preparing for its sixth and probably the biggest edition of them all with almost a 120 man team working behind it since June 2013. Also, with this edition, the festival is set to introduce the revolutionary concepts of TalkShops and LiveCircles. So far the festival has received 105 national entries and 70 photographs and is also expecting International entries from the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and other European countries. “The budgets have gone through the roof and the list of sponsors has only grown thin. So, it is only fitting that we look back to the community that we serve, that we cater to, to come out and support us. To become our strength and to fund us.” said Prof. M.B. Julka, the festival director. “The festival is organized by MBICEM, New Delhi, a premiere Media Institute affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. There is a 120 man team working on it selflessly since the last one year, putting everything they've got to the edge, just for their pure love for cinema. The contribution towards this campaign would go a long way in supporting student filmmakers and the filmmaker community and in promoting Indian cinema and art. The team has so far booked the venue, finalised the jury, worked upon the entries and worked on every other aspect related to pulling off this festival. The money generated through crowdfunding would be used in paying off the venue, buying the gifts, souvenirs for the festival jury and to fund the printing expenses.
