Śr  ī Avadhūta Stotram Hymn Praising the Avadhut Om Nityānandā  ya guruve śi ya-sasāra-hārie Bhakta-kāryaika-dehā  ya Namaste cit-sad-ātmane Salutations to Nityananda, the Guru, who rescues his disciples from transmigration; who has assumed a body to meet the needs of devotees; whose nature is Consciousness and Existence. Avināśinam ātmana hyekavijñā  ya tattvata V  ī ta-rāga-bhaya-krodha nityānandanamāmyaham "Indestructible is the Self, for it is One;" having known this truth, He is free from attachment, fear and anger; to that Nityananda, I bow. Nirvāsananirākāṅka sarva-doa-vivarjitam Nirālambanirātaka Sr  ī nityānandanamāmyaham Free from desires, free from expectations, purged of all defects, independent and fearless; to that revered Nityananda, I bow. Nāhadeho na me deho  j  ī va nāham-ahahi chita Evavijñaya santuṣṭa nityānandanamāmyaham "I am not the body, nor is the body mine; I am not a bound soul, for I am Consciousness;” Thus reflecting, he is content; to that Nityananda, I bow. Nirmamanirahakāra sama-loṣṭāśma-kāñchanam Sama-dukha-sukhadh  ī ra avadhūtanamāmyaham Free from possessiveness, free from egoism, regarding as the same a clod, a stone and gold; Even-minded in happiness and sorrow, all-enduring; to that Avadhut, I bow. Samastakalpanā-matra hyātmā muktasanātana Iti vijñaya santpta avadhūtanamāmyaham "The entire universe is only a mental construct; for the Self alone is free and eternal;” Thus reflecting, he is satisfied; to that Avadhut, I bow.

Om 

Nityānandā ya guruveśiṣ ya-saṃsāra-hāriṇe

Bhakta-kāryaika-dehā yaNamaste cit-sad-ātmane

Salutations to Nityananda, the Guru, who rescues his disciples from

transmigration; who has assumed a body to meet the needs of devotees; whose nature is Consciousness and Existence.

Avināśinam ātmanaṃ hyekaṃ vijñā ya tattvataḥ 

V ī ta-rāga-bhaya-krodhaṃ nityānandaṃ namāmyaham

"Indestructible is the Self, for it is One;" having known this truth,

He is free from attachment, fear and anger; to that Nityananda, I bow.

Nirvāsanaṃ nirākāṅkṣaṃ sarva-doṣa-vivarjitam

Nirālambaṃ nirātaṅkaṃ Sr ī nityānandaṃ namāmyaham

Nāhaṃ deho na me deho j ī va nāham-ahaṃ hi chita

Samastaṃ kalpanā-matraṃ hyātmā muktaḥ sanātanaḥ 

Iti vijñaya santṛptaṃ avadhūtaṃ namāmyaham

 Jñānāgni-dagdha-karmāṇaṃ Kāma-saṅkalpa-varjitam

Heyopādeya-hinaṃ taṃ avadhūtaṃ namāmyaham

His deeds burnt up by the fires of Realization; purged of desire andambition;Free from the need to accept or reject; to that Avadhut, I bow.

Nityam jāgrad-avasthā yaṃ svapna-vadyo'vatiṣṭhate

Niśchintaṃ chinmayātmānaṃ nityanandam namāmyaham

Always in the waking state, he abides like one asleep;Free from anxiety, his mind of the nature of Pure Consciousness; to thatNityananda, I bow.

Svabhāvrnaiva yo yog ī  sukahaṃ bhogaṃ na vañchatiYadṛcchā-lābha-santuṣṭaṃ 

avadhūtaṃ namāmyaham

Possessing the innate disposition of a yogi; he does not long forpleasure and enjoyment;He is contented with whatever comes unsought; to that Avadhuta, Ibow.

Dveṣaṃ nāsti priyaṃ nāstināsti yasya śubhā-śubhamBheda-jñāna-vih ī naṃ taṃ 

avadhūtaṃ namāmayham

To him, none is hateful, none is dear, for him there is no good and bad;Free from the knowledge of difference; to that Avadhut, I bow.

Naiva nindā-praśaṃsābhyāṃ Yasya vikr ī  yate manaḥ 

Ātma-kr īḍam mahātmānaṃ nityānandaṃ namāmyaham

Not even by blame or praise is his mind perturbed; sporting in theSelf, great-souled; to that Nityananda I bow.

 Jaḍaṃ paś yati no yastu jagat-paś yati chinmayam

Nitya-yuktaṃ guṇāt ī taṃ Sadgurum namāmyaham

To him, nothing is insentient, the whole world is filled withConsciousness; Joined with the Eternal, having passed beyond the gunas; to thatSadguru I bow.

Yo hi darśana-mātreṇapavate bhuvana-trayam

Pāvanaṃ jaṅgamaṃ t ī rthaṃ nityānandaṃ namāmyaham

By his mere glance, He purifies the three worlds;He is the movable, the immovable, and all holy places; to thatNityananda, I bow.

Nityānandā ya guraveśiṣ ya-saṃsāra-hāriṇe

Bhakta-kāryaika-dehā yaNamaste cit-sad-ātmane

Salutations to Nityananda, the Guru, who rescues his disciples fromtransmigration; who has assumed a body to meet the needs of devotees; whose nature is Consciousness and Existence.

Sarva-pū jyaṃ sadā pūrṇaṃ 

hyakhaṇḍānanda-vigrahamSva-prakāśaṃ chid-ānandaṃ 

Sr ī nityānandaṃ namāmyaham

An object of worship for all, forever perfect, an embodiment of bliss, indivisible,Shining by his own light, reveling in blissful Consciousness; to thatrevered Nityananda I bow.

Niṣkalaṃ niṣkriyaṃ śāntaṃ nirmalṃ paramāmṛtam

Anantaṃ jagada dharamhyavadhūtaṃ namāmyaham

Undivided, performing no actions, calm, spotless, supremelynectarine,The eternal support of the universe; to that Avadhut I bow.
