Inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion inan elderly patient: case report
A 96-year-old woman had been receiving citalopram20 mg/day [therapeutic indication not stated] for 2 dayswhen she was admitted with a 24-hour history ofdeveloping asthenia, anorexia, bradypsychia, drowsinessand dizziness. Her plasma sodium level was 117 mmol/Land her plasma osmolality was 249 mOsm/kg. Citalopram-induced inappropriate vasopressin secretion wassuspected, and the agent was discontinued. She wastreated with isotonic saline and restricted water intake, andher symptoms improved. She was asymptomatic atdischarge with a plasma sodium level of 135 mmol/L,which remained normal at follow-up 1 month later.Franco Hidalgo S, et al.
