ExperimentPsychologist consulted Lewis Lawes, warden of New York's infamous Green Mile prison said that, “few of the criminals in Green Mile regard themselves as bad men. They can tell you why they had to crack a safe or be quick on the trigger finger. Most of them attempt by a form of reasoning, fallacious or logical, to justify their acts even to themselves, thinking that they should never have been imprisoned at all.”
During experiment on prisoners, He realised that 85% of the times these words were true.
Ways to improve Behaviour
Better attitude towards fellow humans
1. Never Criticise
2. Appreciate
3. Think from others POV
4. Be interested in others
CriticismIf convicted prisoners do not blame themselves. what happens if you criticise them for their deeds?then think about the people who are around us?Criticism always wounds the precious pride of person. Same holds in case of wining argument.(better to loose it)
AppreciationAppreciation satisfies desire of human to be important among peers
Appreciation should behonest, sincere. and lavish in your praise
Beware of Flattery
AppreciationSometimes six years without geting hearty appreciation damage as much as food & leads to many psychological problems.
Alfred Lunt, Famous psychologist said that, “There is nothing I need so much as nourishment for my self-esteem.”
Interest in othersAlfred Adler, the famous Viennese psychologist stated that:“It is the individual who is not interested in his fellow men who has the greatest difficulties in life and provides the greatest injury to others. It is from among such individuals that society faces hardtime.”
