Sinus tachycardia following accidental IVadministration: case report

A 53-year-old woman developed sinus tachycardia after aninjection of bupivacaine 0.25% and morphine 2mg in 6mL ofsolution was accidently given intravenously for pain controlfollowing total knee replacement surgery. She becamedistressed and complained of ringing in her ears, palpitationsand dizziness. She had a HR of 120 beats/min but normal sinusrhythm. Her PaCO2 was 4 kPa and her serum glucose level was9.6 mmol/L. She was admitted to the ICU but no treatment wasrequired and she was discharged on postoperative day 7.Karaca S, et al.
