Imi pramine First r eport of hypertension: case report * Treatment with melphalan, cyclophosphamide (,Cytoxan '), Vi nCristine. dacarbazlne [DITC Imi dazole carboxamide), doxorublcln [adrlamycln), cisplatin [cisplatlnium) and tenlposide [VM-26] was initiated In a 4-year-old girl with stage IV neuroblastoma After 13 months' treatment BP was 96/ 66mm Hg . Imipramine 25mg was given for panic attacks and 4 hours later the patient had a headache, severe emesIs and BP rose from 140/ 118 to 190/ 160mm Hg . BP normalised following Imipramine withdrawal and treatment with furosemide [frusemide) 10mg No further hypertension was noted dUring the course of treatment. Although the patient recei ve d other medications at the time of the hypertensive CriS IS ' ... none of these could be incriminated as the cause of hypertension' Indicating Imipramine as the causative fa ctor Feusner J OLeary M.
