★ ORopinirole overdose
Various toxicities (first report of lymphopenia)following intentional administration in an elderlypatient: case report
A 65-year-old man, who had been receiving ropinirole 20mgonce daily for 7 years for Parkinson’s disease, presented5 hours after ingesting 22 tablets of ropinirole 5mg at a singlego. On presentation, he had abdominal pain, nausea, left-legdyskinesia and epigastric tenderness. CNS examinationshowed brisk deep tendon jerks bilaterally. Laboratoryinvestigations showed lymphopenia (0.64%) and neutrophilia(8.74%) with a WBC count of 9.6. Within 8 hours of ingestion,his symptoms subsided and he was sent home [patienttreatment not clearly stated].
