Reactions 1517, p159 - 6 Sep 2014 S Ropivacaine Seizure: case report In a retrospective review of 158 children receiving ropivacaine [Naropin] for acute femur fracture, one boy was identified who developed seizure. He received epidural ropivacaine [dosage not stated]. He experienced seizure [duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. He received soya oil emulsion with subsequent resolution of seizure. Author comment: "[I]ntralipids are considered first-line therapy for severe reactions (arrhythmia or seizure) to presumed accidental intravascular injection of ropivacaine. Given that the patient who received the intralipids did not have any type of arrhythmia, it is unclear if his seizure was a result of inadvertent intravascular injection of FICNB or if it was due to other, underlying injury."
