It is chanted in houses, places of worship during rituals and ceremonies. Reciting this confers blessings on one’s life. virÞäjo Þadhi Þpüruñ×aù | Then came Brahman from the Virat Purusha s jat/a eATyi?rCyt, sa jätÞo atyar×icyata | Having emerged, thus He pervaded the entire Universe. pí/aÑiƒmm/wa e?pru/>. paçÞcädbhümimÞatho ×purÞaù || Then He created this Earth and then created bodies for all beings. yTpéu;?[e hi/v;a,š dve/a y}/mtN?vt, yatpuruñ×eëa havÞiñä ÷| devÞä yaÞjïamatan×vata | With the Purusha as the offering, the Devas performed a Yagna vs/N/ta eAS?yasId/aJym,!š vasÞanÞto as×yäsédÞäjyam ÷| Spring season was offered as ghee ¢I:/m #X/mZzr/Ïi/v>. gréñÞma idÞhmaççarÞaddhavÞiù || Summer season was offered as firewood. Autumn season was offered as the holy food (naivedyam) sÝ/aSyas?Npirx/y>?, sapÞtäsyäs×anparidÞhayaù× | The five elements, day and night constituted the seven boundaries for the Yagna kunda (Sacred fire place) iÇ> sÝ/ si/mx>? kt«/a>, triù sapÞta samÞidhaù× kåtÞäù | The five senses of perception, the five senses of action, the five circulatory systems, the mind, intellect, awareness, ego, Dharma and Adharma became the 21 offerings into the sacred fire dve/a y*}/ <tN?van/a>, devÞä yadyaÞjïaà tan×vänÞäù | Thus the Devas performed the Yagna Ab×?N/péu;? <pz/mu.! abad× hnanÞ puruñ× aà paçÞ um | The Purusha became the Sacrificial animal. t <y}/ < br/iœ/hi; /àa]En,?! péu;? <jat/m¢?t/>, taà yaÞjïaà barÞhÞiñi Þpraukñan ×| puruñ×aà jätÞama×gratÞaù The Devas sprinkled sacred water on the Purusha who was the Sacrificial animal. and He is the one who appeared first in the creation. tne ?dve/a Ayj?Nt, saX/ya \;y!?ñ /y.e tena ×devÞä aya×janta | sädÞhyä åñy×açva Þye || Thus the Devas, the Sadhyas (who are residents of Vaikunta) (The holy abode of Lord Vishnu) and the Rishis performed the Yagna with Him. tSma*š}/aTsv?R/÷t>?, sÉ<t&? <à;&daJ/ym,! tasmäd÷yaÞjïätsar×vahÞutaù× | sambhåt×aà pråñadäÞjyam | From the Yagna appeared ghee mixed with curds pz/gUS!tagí!?³ evayV/yan,?!
