SRopivacaine

Ventricular fibrillation: case reportA 15-year-old girl was scheduled to undergo transposition of

the tibial tuberosity under combined sciatic/three-in-oneblock. After injection of 0.75% ropivacaine 18mL, sheexperienced a generalised seizure quickly followed byventricular fibrillation. Defibrillation was successful on thesecond attempt and her haemodynamic status normalisedwithin 2 minutes. The planned procedure was then completedunder general anaesthesia.
